  • Seasonal Influences
Seasonal Influences Well, the first trip was actually a field trip for my son's daycare center.. then my wife just happened to mention the pumpkin farm when we were on our way out the door a couple days later... "Pumpkin farm! Pumpkin farm!"  I guess it made an impression on him...  So we went back the next weekend, just the three of us. And we ran into another child from his class...

  • Aspect and Dimension
Aspect and Dimension You may notice that a lot of the studio Photo Blog entries involve flowers. Flowers are an easy target for photographers in Iowa as well as for all photographers in general. The wildlife here is, most times, very hard to locate and get close to and unless you really have a passionate drive to shoot animals, it's usually much more convenient to just get some shots of the local vegetation and go home. This particular…

  • Onward & Upward
Onward & Upward There is a little piece of natural prairie not too far from here called Krumm Preserve where the wildflowers are just going crazy at this time of year. I don't know what all of them are called, so of course the few that I do know stand out immediately. The coneflower (echinacea) is very known for its medicinal values, most of which are attributed to the root of the plant. I, like many other people,…

  • Making K2 Content Image Sizes Consistent
I really like the flexibility that K2 has to offer without over-complicating things, but one of the things that has been bothering me is that image sizes are controlled by width only, so, depending on the original, you could end up with one image that is 200x400 sitting next to an image that is 200x100 and it just doesn't look right. I experimented with some hacks I found mentioned here and there but really wanted a "no hack" solution for this and here it is: K2 Image Override to resize by width OR height: Note:…

  • Revisions & Improvements
Yes, again. With all the new features we are incorporating, we have found it necessary to once again redesign the Zandergraphics site. But change is a good thing in this industry. Change is how you stay on top and keep the experience fresh and stay up-to-date with the latest software developments... The new site will have an updated look, more "Web 2.0" and even quite a bit of "Web 3.0" as well... What started out as a facelift of the mobile site and iPhone compatibility has turned into a complete redesign with online pricing, ordering,…

  • The Dust Finally Settles...
The Dust Finally Settles...March 11, 2009So, the new studio has been remodeled from head to toe and everything is falling into place.  The new space is MUCH brighter than the old one was, both in colorful design and general atmosphere.  And we finally got things settled enough to take some presentable photos... The Dust Finally Settles...March 11, 2009 The New Look...As you can see and you will certaily notice if you ever visited us in our old hole-in-the-wall studio down the street, Zandergraphics has made quite an evolution.  There's still some clutter here and there…

  • Moving Further Into the Green....
From Green Beginnings...In the summer of 2008, Zandergraphics made a decision to re-evaluate our server hosts in an attempt to choose a more environmentally-friendly web server.  After a month or two of researching the options, we found a reputable, reliable, and feature-rich provider that operates highly energy-efficient hosting servers at a very reasonable rate.  Six months later, they announced that they had had invested in renewable energy for the operation of their servers.  It was then that we knew for sure that we had made the right choice...Reducing Our Impact...The Information Technology industry has an…
