Aspect and Dimension

The Image
This one has a lot to do with demonstration of size and aspect. If the little aphid was much smaller, he would be lost in the image and would become little more than another detail. As it stands, the bug is just as important of an element of this image as the flower itself and gives a nice interruption to the bright yellow of the flower. Without the insects presence, the focal point of the photo would be the center of the flower itself where now the eye is drawn just to the left of what would initially seem to be the obvious focal point.

More Ramblings
This image is, in a way, a valid representation of how I've been feeling here in the studio lately. We have new servers, new services, a redesigned website, and several of our previously designed works are up for renewal and redesign and updating as well. There is a lot going on and sometimes I begin to feel like the little aphid sitting on the ginormous flower, wondering "Where do I start?" There is a feeling of open possibilities to it, where anything is possible and all that remains to be determined is how to go about it all.

Of course, having the flower all to yourself (so to speak) and having endless possibilities, also means that there is an endless amount of work to be done and there must be an art to finding a balance with all of that... not that I've learned that one yet. Most people that know me would probably say I work way too much. But I guess that's one of the hazards of working in a field that you are passionate about...
