July 9th, 2007 - “The Eagle Has Landed”
July 9th, 2007I think this is a new record for the Zandergraphics Blog going AWOL… nearly a month without an entry. This will be our first full week in the new office and we are starting to get settled in and get caught up on everything. The last month or so has been a whirlwind of packing, organizing, buying new equipment, and struggling to keep everything current.
It feels good to be at rest again and adjusting to a new routine and a more solid schedule. The move has been good for us and I foresee great things in the future. Grinnell is a more affordable place to operate a business, and it is a great central location for the areas that we do most of our business in. Less than an hour from Des Moines or Iowa City, we’re also close to Oskaloosa, Marshalltown, and Newton so there will be plenty of opportunity for expansion.
We’ll be maintaining several accounts in the Iowa City area as well as further north near Cedar Rapids and Waterloo. The move to Grinnell will also save us quite a bit of overhead and even though we will have to make frequent trips to Iowa City and that area, it will be well worth it. We were looking at offices in Iowa City and the difference in rent is considerable between the two.
Like Iowa City, Grinnell is a college town and has that same sort of artsy, creative feeling to it so I think that we will fit in just fine here. Everything we loved about Iowa City is here too (except for the friends of course, whom we’ll still visit). The days are flying by and, even as I write this, the end of the day is drawing ever closer. Several new sites will be coming in the near future and there are some pretty cool plans in the works.
Watch for new news articles about the new office or stop in to see us if you’re in the neighborhood.
