More Than Just Paper...
Paper by Mohawk is truly a product and a company that we can be and are proud to be associated with. In a time when dependence on foreign oil and dirty energy sources are such prevalent and important issues, we believe that supporting companies like Mohawk who stand up and endorse clean, renewable energy sources produced right here in America is a fantastic opportunity. It didn't take long for us to decide to go with the Mohawk line of papers for much of our production needs.
Mohawk Fine Papers Inc...
Independently owned Mohawk is headquartered in Cohoes, New York. In 2005, Mohawk acquired the Fine Papers business from International Paper, which included the respected Strathmore, Beckett, Via, and BriteHue brands. Today Mohawk operates three mills (six paper machines) with over 175,000 tons capacity. The mills are served by two Converting Centers, which offer state-of-the-art cut-size, folio, roll converting, and packaging to paper distributors, paper mills, and OEMs.

Here is what Mohawk has to say about sustainability and the environment:
"Mohawk is at the forefront of environmentally sound manufacturing. Every day we look for better ways to reduce emissions and protect the environment inside and outside our mills. On June 1, 2007 we increased our purchase of wind-generated electricity RECs to 100,000,000 kWh annually which represents 100% of the electric power required for all of Mohawk's operations in its New York and Ohio facilities.
Because paper manufacturing relies heavily on water, forests, and energy, it is our responsibility to care for these precious resources. At Mohawk, environmental stewardship is a top priority for everyone, every day. We act responsibly within our own mills and we require the same level of environmental performance from our suppliers.
Our efforts result in superior products manufactured using environmentally and socially responsible practices which is important for our customers because paper is the medium which in itself can deliver a responsible message."
Mohawk paper lines....
Mohawk offers a number of paper lines containing primarily recycled products and all are made with wind power. Zandergraphics plans to stock the complete line of Mohawk papers though we have yet to find a supplier that carries all Mohawk products. Descriptions of Mohawk's various lines of paper as well as more detailed information regarding their environmental policies are available at http://www.mohawkpaper.com. We will be looking to Mohawk papers primarily in the areas of glossy and matter card stock, brochure stock, colored papers, and stationary.
Zandergraphics is proud to offer our customers this environmentally responsible alternative to virgin (non-recycled) paper and will continue to research and review new paper sources to add to our line. Watch for announcements regarding more moves that Zandergraphics will be making in the near future to strengthen our commitment to environmental stewardship.
